A little-known milestone has been celebrated by the couple who brought the joy of a wedding to Jamaica.
The family of a bride-to-be is celebrating the 50th year of the wedding, but a young man in his late 30s who had never even heard of the ceremony had a surprise waiting for him.
Rochelle and James Haines have just celebrated their 50 th anniversary together with their daughter, Rochelle, a student at Kingston University.
Rochels mother, Rosemary, and James’ mother, Diane, have made a point of saying that it’s been a long journey to get there.
“It’s been very hard for us,” Diane said.
We’ve done so much.
But we’ve been through so much together that it is hard to say no to my daughter Rochelle.
She is a student.
Rochelle is a talented young artist and she’s a great mother.
The wedding took place at the Grand Marais Hotel on the Caribbean island of St Lucia.
It was the first in a series of ceremonies being planned for a couple who had known each other since they were 13 years old.
Rochels parents, Rochella and James, married in a ceremony that took place in their hometown of Jamaica in 1996.
They have two other children together.
James Haine, now 50, is married to another woman and has three children.
When they first met in college, Rocherls mother was a waitress and her father was a teacher.
They met at a Caribbean wedding in 1997 and they fell in love immediately.
But their first real romance took place after a trip to Jamaica when Rochelle got married to James.
They began to date and had their first child in the Caribbean country in 2008.
In 2009, James Hains wedding was also a first for Jamaica.
He and Rochelle decided to take a trip with her parents to the island.
In 2010, they were married in Jamaica and in 2014, they had their second child together.
Diane HainES said she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.
It’s just been a beautiful journey, I think I’ve been a part of it, she said.
“I’m really thankful for all the people who’ve stood up for me, stood up to say we need to do this.
We need to go.”‘
We didn’t do it for love’: Rochelle says she doesn’t regret anything and is grateful for the support of her parents and friends James and Rochele Hains were married at a wedding ceremony in Kingston on November 23, 2009.
Their wedding was a first in Jamaica.
During their ceremony, they said their wedding dress was made in Jamaica, which was not true.
‘We were born in the wrong place’: James and Rochelle have two children together When James and his mother had their son, they did not have a wedding dress.
When Rochelle first got married, she was a single mother and did not even know how to tie a tie.
“We didn`t do it because love is in the air,” Rochelle said.
“We weren`t born in Jamaica.”
‘I can’t believe it’: James says he has no regrets about the wedding.
He said he was shocked when he saw his parents’ wedding dress on the internet.
His mother said she is proud of the work she and her husband did for her family.
It was a long and difficult road for them and the wedding was not the first time they went to Jamaica to celebrate.
After being married in Kingston, James and wife Diane Hain had to leave Jamaica for Jamaica on a flight back home.
That was the last time they saw their parents.
James and Diane had their child together in the same year.
James said he has only been thinking about the future for a few months, but Rochelle’s birthday is on December 6.
As for their family, James said he and Roches mother, Rochellette, had so much to celebrate and their celebration is something they look forward to.
